What the Los Angeles Clippers really should've used as their new logo. Thousands of miles better than what's brought out by Steve Ballmer:

Just this very day has brought out some new developments towards this subject.

The Atlanta Hawks, the best team in the East record-wise, just this morning officially unveiled their new, innovative, and adventurous look that we've seen designs that incorporates the energy and vibrancy of Atlanta with an emphasis to the next generation of Hawks fans and an incoming new ownership with three new unis--white home, granite grey road, and torch red ATL alternate. Not bad, but I surely didn't expect volt green for the numbering and wordmarking. Volt green, a nod to the early 70s past of Pete Maravich and Lou Hudson and distinct itself from the St. Louis Hawks era with a vibrancy to the future, is used in all three units. And Nike uses this colo(u)r. For the first time, the shorts are asymmetrical. The shorts can also be worn with different colo(u)red jerseys. Yes, there's also the feather pattern that's now ubiquitous with the Hawks--have to wonder is it also a nod to the old OMNI Arena roof, where the Philipps Arena now stands. Surely, it's new court will incorporate this feathers pattern. Even the Hawks will be on the Georgia state license plate later this summer. Hey I still liked the now-previous style. And the ATL is a nod to the previous wordmark. Why conveniently ignore the Hawks' earlier eras in Milwaukee and in the Tri-Cities?
http://news.sportslogos.net/2015/06/...nd-neon-green/
http://www.nba.com/hawks/2015-uniform-launch-microsite

More quietly, the Milwaukee Bucks showed off its new basketball court design in coinciding with its new look and uniforms at the Bradley Center. Surely it will transfer over to the new Milwaukee arena upon completion. Yes, the distinct Robert Indiana-inspired M's on the court stands:

Why oh why this new basketball court to go with its hideous new logo, LA Clippers?! Looks so much better previously:

Get ready for the onslaught of 51 new Adidas NBA jerseys (some of the retro NBA/ABA variety) ready to grace NBA courts in the 2015-16 season that got massively leaked!
http://news.sportslogos.net/2015/07/...s-for-2015-16/

One of those will be the Indiana Pacers paying tribute to the fictional Hickory High on the 30th anniversary of Hoosiers. Lots of minor league baseball teams pull this stunt with specific limited-run movie jerseys. But this is a first for the NBA:

Utah Jazz will officially revert to their famous note they had since their New Orleans inception, albeit with its current colo(u)r scheme, as the primary logo again for the 2016-17 season. Allowing time to get this right up until the next offseason with some updating. The Wasach Mountain logo was nice in its three colo(u)ring incarnations (the first and the latest one are my favo(u)rites), but it never screams music and Jazz to me like the note one though more synonymous with the state of Utah. Plus, the recolo(u)ring killed it. Court rendering may be in the offering:

Guess every NBA franchise has (or can afford) to have a garish uniform. Milwaukee's new black alternate certainly fits the bill and alligns along what's revealed (largely leaked, really) for the all the NBA jerseys this upcoming season--not a fan of this at all. Come back Bucks 1990s hunter green alternates!

Saw the NBA Adidas jersey brochure? Did so, you'll see that Oklahoma City will finally have orange alternate uniforms. Also just look at a portion of the Chesapeake Energy Arena too:

Funny I just now wrote something on Reggie Theus here, where had some of his best years with Sacramento, that the Kings announced they will bring back those infamous (their word) Carolina blue uniforms they wore from 1985-1990 for 10 Flashback Friday games next season as part of its 30 years in the California capital celebration as well as being the final season at the--wait for it--Sleep Train Arena before moving to the brand new Golden 1 Center. And there's Reggie Theus photo wearing it back then. Though there is one major difference from the originals: note the numbering is pared down significantly with this repro:
http://news.sportslogos.net/2015/08/...times-in-2016/

Even with the channeling of Theus, Terry Tyler, Mark Olberding, Danny Ainge (briefly), Otis Thorpe, LaSalle Thompson, Mike Woodson, Eddie Johnson, Joe Klein, Larry Drew, Ricky Berry (RIP), Harold Pressley, Kenny Smith, Pervis Ellison, and Vinny Del Negro, the Sacramento Kings reverted to the traditional royal blue in 1990 that was synomyous of the franchise back in Rochester, Cincinnati, and Kansas City-Omaha. But now purple, silver, and black are here to stay following the 1990s rebranding of so many NBA teams, ugly in some cases and made it faddish.

Great piece on the new Atlanta Hawks uniforms from the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. With serious heavy imput. Red, dating from its time in St. Louis, was preserved. Out with navy, incomes volt green:

Get ready for a trio Houston Rockets Clutch City alternate uniforms this upcoming season, a black Houston one, and two sleeved ones, a (mostly) grey/black/red one and a retro-inspired red, gold, and white Clutch City one. Look for memorial Moses Malone patches on them very soon. Like the black one:

Well, there is someone who has a problem with most of the new Houston Rockets alternates:

What to expect of the new San Francisco Arena along Mission Bay when the Warriors move back to San Francisco with this 3D animation rendering. The lower bowl seats will be even lower to the floor and closer to the action than at the Oracle Arena (Oakland Coliseum Arena) with those new jumbos rectangular HDTV scoreboards that you see in some arenas now:

Chicago's home court has been virtually the same since the Bulls moved to the Chicago United Center from Chicago Stadium across the street in 1994 with a few tweaks here and there since. Now the Bulls present the most significant changes to it this season since the United Center's opening, replete with the iconic four stars from Chicago's flag, the wordmark from the Bulls official logo, the removal of the center court basketball (which I actually liked), and with that a bigger bull there:
http://news.sportslogos.net/2015/09/...-16-new-court/

And the NBA champs Warriors and Indiana will sport (non-overbearing) ad on their practice jerseys:

Denver continues the NBA court sublimination trend in a very unique manner with the pickaxes inside the three-point lines and the Rocky Mountains with the 5258 (feet above sea level)/300 (historical average of annual sunshine days) reference while removing most of the powder blue from the court:
http://news.sportslogos.net/2015/09/...xes-mountains/

Atlanta's colo(u)r changes and the feather design are what the changes onto the new Hawks' court. Pretty simple yet also unique:

Brooklyn Nets' court for this upcoming season at the Barclay Center very likely will have its baseline wordmarking NYC subway tile-inspired, based on NBA2K16:

Washington Wizards channeling echoes of their Baltimore/Capital/Washington Bullets heritage. If you noticed the Adidas NBA 2015-16 uni brochure a while ago, you already would notice this. I remember seeing vintage footage of these Bullets uniforms at times for years. Sometimes when they're at home in that overgrown stereotypical middle school cafeteria of an arena in the Baltimore Arena. Sometimes when the Bullets were on the road. In recent times since the change of the Bullets to Wizards in the mid-90s, outside of the late 70s-1986 and the one time for those Baltimore early 70s-era Bullets uniforms to the present-day incarnation they wear, Washington doesn't get into retro act much, the Chicago Zephyrs ones they wore several seasons ago notwithstanding.

Well, the Wizards are bringing back that funky 70s Bullets "Baltimore Pride" style in updated form (also populated with the ABA's Miami Floridians in that very same period). But only in sleeved form. Are the sleeves going to be there for the planned ads?

Milwaukee Bucks now has an alternate court for the Bradley Centre, an NBA first, to go with its black alternate jerseys during select games:
http://news.sportslogos.net/2015/10/...court-2015-16/

Detroit goes chrome (with some navy) with its jerseys this season. Makes sense given the city's strong automobile history:
http://news.sportslogos.net/2015/10/...nates-2015-16/

NBA2K16 was right: Brooklyn is going with the NYC subway station tile mosaic at the baseline. Still keeping the herringbone wood pattern at the Barclays Center:

When you're dealing with a LeBron James team, be it Cleveland or Miami, expect for the franchise to sport multiple types of jerseys during the course of the season including the standard home and road ones. This season surely is no exception. LeBron sells! For the first time outside of those Christmas Day chrome logo sleeved ones from 2013, LeBron and his teammates will wear shortsleeved jerseys, albeit in a navy Cavs alternate sleeved ones that got leaked starting with that Adidas NBA uniform catalog and becoming a reality:
http://news.sportslogos.net/2015/10/...-leak-2015-16/

Spurs teasing their new black alternate via Vine. This has got to be their blacked out version of the metallic silver one with the Spurs wore for three seasons. Hey, why not bring back the old school San Antonio near black out road ones from many years ago?

Yes, it's now official the Spurs have a black version to the silver "Signature Spur" alternates with Patty and Manu as models--and they're not ditching the silver ones:
http://news.sportslogos.net/2015/10/...e-spur-jersey/

Astonishing to see the Philadelphia 76ERS and Wells Fargo acting so petty to each other in public while the Sixers show off their new basketball court after Wells Fargo pulled its corporate sponsorship of the 76ERS--and the basketball party is offended on the home arena Wells Fargo has its name upon. May or may not be a requirement to have the arena's name on the basketball court. But it's so small and white you can barely see it. Go all the way with the pettiness in this passive-aggressive move:

Good grief, the Clippers' whole ill-advised rebranding identity officially extends to black alternates. Ugh! There's still time to mitigate this!

On the night of the new NBA regular season, let's get on with the updates of the unis, logos, arenas, and courts in the NBA with the help of Chris Creamer's Sports Logo Page!

Can't argue with Mr. NBA Logo about his possible logo successor, if that ever happens. Would definitely support this! Jerry West has been like that for 45 years now. Even Spike Lee proposed this years ago. But like with Chris, I'm still down with Jerry West, an icon onto itself:
http://news.sportslogos.net/2015/10/...n-replacement/

Three new Cavs alternate uniforms coming this season that were released this past week including a couple of returnees. The Cavaliers' home uniforms from 1974-80 from their early Richfield Coliseum days like with the Miracle at Richfield in 1976 for six Hardwood Classic games and those retro-present jerseys of the uniform style from 1982-1994 mixed with the current colo(u)rs they wore from 2009-10 with slight updatings (coming October 30)...And then comes the Cavs short-sleeved Cleveland jerseys acting as a public flashpoint. So it's seven for the Cavs altogether. Cleveland continues to roll in the dough, nonetheless:
http://news.sportslogos.net/2015/10/...ved-alternate/

Even the NBA On TNT is getting a makeover this season. Going metallic starting this season after the aging gel capsule look:
http://news.sportslogos.net/2015/10/...llic-makeover/

No more Energy Solutions Center and off to the scrapheap with the Delta Center's name. Utah Jazz's home arena in Salt Lake City is now called the Vivint Smart Home Arena:
http://news.sportslogos.net/2015/10/...new-name-logo/

Knicks will go retro with their circa 1954 jerseys this season:
http://news.sportslogos.net/2015/10/...s-this-season/

Just when you thought the NBA was through with the uniform announcements for this season, the Miami Heat, a team known for its multiple looks during the LeBron years, brings forth its own set of alternates like the 1988-98 home uniforms (6 games), the amalgamated Miami Legacy one (9 games), and the Home Strong US troops edition (games surrounding Veterans Day, portion of sales goes to charity):
http://news.sportslogos.net/2015/10/...015-16-season/

Phil "Flip" Saunders' sad passing from cancer Sunday at 60 on the eve of the 2015-16 regular season start prompts the Minnesota Timberwolves, a franchise that he's so synonomous with, to issue a classily detailed memorial patch the team will wear this entire season. Instead of the usual wolf howling, it's like it is somberly looking at the sky for him. Might actually make a better primary logo than the one it currently uses:
http://news.sportslogos.net/2015/10/...rs-with-patch/

Catch up with all the offseason news of the logo and uniform previews including the NBA champs Golden State Warriors bringing out the San Francisco Warriors famous 1960s jersey look that's the inspiration of their current look (with a gold-tinged look on their jerseys as they get their championship rings tonight in Oakland), the Oklahoma City Thunder (finally) gets orange alternates, some Stance socks colo(u)rs, NBA refs uniforms, and the New York Knicks' new look on their court with blue now on the key, pleasing for those who recall the Knicks' 90s basketball era:

More NBA uniform details forthcoming now with the season underway.

Denver Nuggets new "whitegold" shortsleeved alternate jerseys modeled by Danilo Gallinari and Kenneth Faried with fake pick axes. Weird. I can live without them:
http://news.sportslogos.net/2015/10/...ed-alternates/

Philadelphia pays tribute to the memories fallen Sixers legends Darryl Dawkins, Moses Malone, and Harvey Pollack with 3 of its 13 stars patch understatedly black on their new jerseys this season:
http://news.sportslogos.net/2015/10/...015-16-season/

Those iconic San Francisco Warriors "The City" uniforms that the likes of Rick Barry, Nate Thurmond, Jeff Mullins, "Roughhouse" Rudy LaRusso, Jim King, Jerry Lucas, Clyde Lee, Al Attles, and Tom Meschary wore from 1966-1971 and are the inspiration of the current uniforms will make their return appearance on 8 Hardwood Classics Nights this season starting November 17 against Toronto (with Jason Richardson hono(u)red by the W's on November 24 during the next one). Last worn during the 2010-11 season during 4 games. Always nice to see!
http://news.sportslogos.net/2015/10/...assics-nights/
http://www.nba.com/warriors/news/war...2015-16-season

Not only that, but the Warriors will put that very The City jersey logo at centre court as opposed to the current logo on those very Hardwood Classics Nights at the Oakland Coliseum Arena/Oracle Center:
http://news.sportslogos.net/2015/11/...back-uniforms/

Apocolypse is drawing near to many. The ads are coming onto the NBA All-Star Weekend jerseys for this one up in Toronto with KIA Motors tacked on for trial run for 2016 and 2017. Even the retail versions. As I said previously, as long as it's not obtrusive overall, it's OK. Many North American sports fans are aghast of this, however. I understand. This issue is something I'll delve into soon:
http://news.sportslogos.net/2015/10/...-star-jerseys/
http://www.wsj.com/articles/nba-to-p...eys-1446071503
http://news.sportslogos.net/2015/10/...-star-jerseys/

Adidas' official unvieling of the 2015 NBA Christmas Day Season's Greetings collection in the Minnesota Wild-esque script lettering and a scarlet Christmas card wax seal-like NBA logo on the back collar with Stance socks in tow for the 10 teams participating to play those 5 Christmas Day games:
http://news.sportslogos.net/2015/10/...teams-in-2015/

Atlanta mixed their new red alternates with their black shorts on November 1, reminscient of the ABA's Memphis Tams and Washington Wizards mixing colo(u)rs on tanks and shorts. Making good on the mixing promise:
http://news.sportslogos.net/2015/11/...-shorts-today/

For the first time since 2003-04, the Chicago Bulls, as part of the 50th anniversary celebrations this season, brings back the red road jerseys with the black Chicago script lettering regularly worn from 1975-1985 (with commemorative 50th season logo with six gold Chicago flag stars for each decade of existence) for six games. Starts tomorrow night when OKC comes to town to the United Center with 60s night. Fun fact: Michael Jordan's rookie season in 1984-85 was the last time the Bulls wore the road ones permanently and not select games subsequently:

Memphis Grizzlies pay tribute to another portion of the ABA Memphis franchise (1970-75) from the 1970s following the New Orleans Buccaneers' move there. The Grizz salute the Memphis Sounds that lasted only one season in 1974-75 and was at first league-owned after owner Charlie Finley lost interest, and then former ABA commissioner Mike Storen (Hannah Storm's father) with the legendary Stax Records star Issac Hayes and Holiday Inn's Ken Simmons took over with Joe Mullaney roaming the sidelines with the Mid-South Coliseum, naming them the Sounds from the Tams. Finished fourth in the ABA East Division at 27-57 and made the playoffs before getting eliminated by eventual ABA champs Kentucky Colonels, already Eastern Division Champs by then, 4-1. But like throughout the whole Memphis saga, the franchise was hampered by financial instability before being sold to a Baltimore ownership group and moved them to be the Hustlers and then the Claws. Died before actually playing a 1975-76 regular season game.

The red and white Sounds replica uniforms are now available with other Sounds gear well before with the Grizzlies played the Oklahoma City Thunder last night at home in the FedEx Forum. The Grizz have already showed love for to the first two wacky 1970s Memphis ABA incarnations, the Pros and Tams, by wearing throwbacks in the recent past. Now it's the funky Sounds turn:
http://news.sportslogos.net/2015/11/...unds-uniforms/

The Chicago Bulls, surely much to the immense tears of many basketball fans, hopped on the trendy grey for its sake short sleeved in its Chicago Pride jerseys during their 50th anniversary season when playing 5 games against their notable Central Division rivals--and the New York Knicks. Not big on that. But at least with it has the Chicago flag's four stars on that. Say you come from overseas hoping to catch a Bulls game at the Chicago United Center, hyped up with glory days images in your head of MJ, Pip, and Rodman (maybe even earlier of Sloan, Theus, Greenwood, A-Train, Green, Woolwidge, and Dailey). You get there to the game at the United Center. This is what you're hoping and dreaming for. And you see...that grey uniform the Bulls are wearing. You burst into tears in your hotel room. Shattered:
http://news.sportslogos.net/2015/11/...ive-occasions/

That "The City" logo on the classic San Francisco Warriors jerseys is now at center court at the Oakland Coliseum Arena/Oracle Arena for the Warriors' Hardwood Classics Night tonight!
http://news.sportslogos.net/2015/11/...lassics-night/

The rumours of LeBron not a fan of those sleeved jerseys are now confirmed:

LeBron really hates those short-sleeved jerseys and says so. He really, really does here:
http://news.sportslogos.net/2015/11/...leeved-jersey/

Now he's got his own Nike typeface...and, just breaking, he reportedly signed a lifetime Nike deal that will see him cashing those lavish checks and not plead poverty ever. Makes sense LeBron signs now and interestingly before Nike takes over the NBA outfitting from Adidas/Reebok in 2017 as its shining active and popular basketball light. Michael Jordan seemingly has a de facto one with Nike under some equity he holds with Jordan Brand with Nike perhaps under a lucrative business partnership. Nonetheless, can't see MJ working with anyone else:
http://news.sportslogos.net/2015/12/...-own-typeface/

Knicks will sport their 1950s era jerseys during Throwback Tuesday games:
http://news.sportslogos.net/2015/11/...back-tuesdays/
