Been noticing lately a lot of the new NBA basketball courts in the last several seasons not having the NCAA key borderings inside the NBA key? I actually miss them in a lot of these courts. Not sure why for the change. Then again, the NCAA does not allow NBA properties on the courts when NCAA teams sometimes play inside their arenas; those schools have their own basketball courts to play in.

Wherever LeBron goes and plays, be it Cleveland and Miami, he's #1 in leading NBA jersey sales and propels his team he currently plays to #1 in team merchandise sales. Cleveland's disappointing season upon his return to that city has hurt it. But the brisk merchandise sales certainly is one good thing about their season so far. Clearly further confirmation that the NBA is very superstar-driven. Furthermore, you not only have a lot of Cavaliers fans but also LeBron James fans who will support him in whatever team he plays for (instead of sticking with a team after he leaves, which can be annoying at times) and casual NBA ones who are attracted to teams and superstar players of current status/relevance. Miami with LeBron no longer there has slipped some on the Top 10 lists. Nice to see San Antonio repped in both top-selling lists. Top major market NBA teams are among the top 10. I wonder if Milwaukee is at the bottom of both lists:

Adam Silver, when speaking in London for the annual NBA regular season game last week between Milwaukee and New York at the O2 Arena, says advertising on NBA jerseys is "inevitable". Just as long those patches doesn't plaster them all over the jerseys like you would see with ice hockey and handball jerseys in several European leagues, I wouldn't be mad IMO. And don't put them above (or completely replacing in the case of the WNBA) the team's name/city. Placing at the bottom would be perfect and maybe a couple on the shorts. NBL Canada teams like the London Lightning and the Mississauga Power do it right, IMO, if we are to head this route. Fans should also have the option to buy the jerseys, shorts, and practice/on-court gear clean:
http://www.philly.com/philly/sports/...he_future.html

Plus, it's part of the new upcoming NBA's TV deals:

Houston's already unveiled Chinese Lunar New Year jerseys from the Media Day preseason now has some company with Golden St.'s version for this season. Like them:

The Izod Center, the former home of the New Jersey Nets (and 1982 NBA All-Star Game), the New Jersey Devils and even select Seton Hall Pirates and NCAA tournament games like the 1996 Final Four among other events, will shutter its doors after tomorrow. When the Prudential Center opened in nearby Newark from East Rutherford, I just knew the Izod Center's days were numbered for it has little luxury boxes and club seating for revenue any New York or New Jersey pro teams as tenants, for one thing; it just took a while for it to happen. Plus it can be dark. Last event held will be a monster truck rally this weekend. Some NJ state officials aren't happy about how the controversial Chris Christie handled it in operating an entertainment facility under public domain:

Indiana Pacers brought back their iconic FloJo-designed jerseys (1990-1997) for select games for Hardwood Classics Nights. These are the jerseys the Pacers wore when they were starting to make serious and consistent strides in NBA success after coming from the ABA:

A new short-sleeved Oklahoma City Thunder uni definitely as blah just like its logos (NBDL one and name included):
http://news.sportslogos.net/2015/03/...ernate-jersey/

That updated Atlanta Hawks Pac-Man-like logo quickly is beloved and getting major prominence during Atlanta's extremely successful season over the full bird clutching the ball with its claws logo. furthermore, that logo will become their new primary one with plans for some serious uniform changes. Will those popular jerseys from 1983-94 get their own, albeit updated, comeback? Sounds likely.

Philadelphia 76ERS plan for new uniforms in the 2015-16 season:

Brooklyn unviels its white and black shortsleeved version of one of their notable jerseys going back from the ABA era and used frequently in the NBA:

Big news breaking today: Adidas will NOT be renewing its NBA contract beyond the 2016-17 season. Adidas execs realizing the contract was not as lucrative as they hoped. Thinking Nike or Under Armour will get the official apparel rights. Thinking Nike. Could this be the end of the sleeved jersey era?:

Milwaukee Bucks revealed a new modification on their logo rebranding this afternoon with a new arena pending as the #6 Bucks are surprisingly playoff bound this year. Triangle background is gone. Puts the M cleverly under the buck's head. More cream. Too bad the red, brought back to supposedly recall the glory days in the 70s and early 1980s, once again gets jettisoned like it did from 1985-2006. Wished it stays.

Washington's alternate logo with the Washington Monument in front of a largely navy (with red on top) basketball and the large silver star that we see at the top of the back of the Wizards' jerseys will become the primary logo next season, replacing the rarely-used these days Wizard logo. Making it more of a nod to the city of Washington, DC. With a roundel surrounding it naming the franchise with two additional stars making all three stars rep District of Columbia, Maryland, and Virginia. Stars themselves make a more subtle nod the Wizards name. If they change again, Federals would be a nice name, in hono(u)r of the woebegone USFL team from the early 1980s, Washington Federals (1983-1984):

The NBA just gave approval for the Pacers to wear their iconic FloJo retro jerseys tonight in the playoff march on their regular season finale:

Nike seems very poised to take over from Adidas as the NBA's athletic outfitter after the latter's contract expires in 2017. No stranger to the NBA. It previously outfit the Bulls (the power and Jordan and Pip), the Raptors, the Spurs, the Trail Blazers, the Celtics, the Pistons, the Wizards, and the NDCELE back from 1997-2001 with other NBA teams with Starter/Puma and Champion during this period until Reebok completely took over in 2001. It already has the NFL but the lure of the lucrative overseas market associated with the NBA brand is enticing to the Swoosh with a lot of the current NBA superstars endorsed by it:

The Clippers finally will get a logo makeover and rebranding at long last since being in San Diego! But it wasn't as quite as I expected with an empowering and exciting new lease on life and ownership.

Milwaukee's new uniforms will come later after the playoffs. Disheartens me there won't be any red on them, judging from the incoming new logos and wordmarks.

That new Wizards logo you just saw in the playoffs took effect immediately
http://news.sportslogos.net/2015/04/...e-immediately/

If you liked what Nike is doing with the NFL, the NBA would serve as good news for you when Nike officially gets it come 2017. Plus, we could very well see Nike consent to the appearance of ads on jerseys--and the swoosh will be there on the unis like in the NCAA and high school. Again, I'm cool with it as long their presence isn't overdone on both tanks and shorts and warmups.

Interesting development here. Stance Socks will become the NBA's official gametime socks, replacing For Bare Feet next season. With team colo(u)rs. Not sure will Stance work with Nike on this given the latter's uber-popular Nike basketball socks or insist the Swoosh will have NBA colo(u)rs on their when it takes over in 2017, knowing how many colo(u)r combos on them can easily be used for NBA teams:

Some trouble brewing ahead for the proposed 18,000-seat Golden St. Warriors arena at San Francisco's Mission Bay with opposition from some wealthy UCSF donors. But this potentially can throw a political monkey wrench in the school's disfavo(u)r at a time when the Warriors are so madly popular:

Seattle's proposed SoDo arena for the SuperSonics clears one hurdle in passing the enviromental tests. But it's not all the way there yet:

I hope the Philadelphia 76ERS didn't radically re-worked their logo that's going to be unveiled tomorrow morning like they did in 1997. I like that classic logo when it was brought back. Represents all the glory years for one thing. Does look boxed-in currently and hopefully the Philadelphia wording gets added in more smoothly:

So Philadelphia joins the Roundel Sports Logo Club this morning with its logo modification, keeping the heart of it--that classic logo. The red square background with the Philadelphia on a bottom royal blue rectangular didn't work out so well. The stars represent each decade the 76ERS have been in Philadelphia since their move from Syracuse as the old Nationals in 1963. New jerseys will come June 18 that will be a mix of what they've had from the 1960s-1980s:

NBA Christmas 2015 holiday jerseys and shorts unveiled ready to hit with more of a holiday-like, hokey and a little kitschy script wordmark and no sleeves, chrome front logos, or first names on the bottom of jerseys. Derivative of what they normally wear here. We might have a strong hint of the new Atlanta Hawks look in this. Greige is the word (neither bleached nor dyed) this year's holiday season. Not egg nog:
http://news.sportslogos.net/2015/05/...2015-uniforms/

From the Adidas NBA catalog for the NBA 2015-16 season reveals some interesting upcoming tidbits. We can expect at least 13 NBA teams to have new alternate uniforms. 9 NBA teams will sport the popular Hardwood Classics retro uniforms (one of them, Memphis, will pay tribute to the ABA Memphis Sounds after already doing so with the Pros and Tams). Houston and Denver will have modifications on their regular jerseys. Cleveland Cavs are the beneficiaries to this. Will sell more LeBron jerseys and jersey T-shirts like Miami did, right?

It's an open secret when it got discussed, but the Atlanta Hawks made it official that the updated Pac-Man logo will now be the primary one with a new Firebird basketball one as an alternate (and now a new ATL wordmark) that some of us spotted when it appears on the Christmas Day Hawks shorts' waist area. Design already appears on hats, websites, and even McDonald's cups. Atlanta's got innovative plans for its new unis:

Really interesting in seeing the history of roundel logos that dates back to 100 years, especially when the concept has made a comeback since the 1980s and with several NBA teams (Toronto, Milwaukee, Philadelphia, Washington, Atlanta, Brooklyn) now switched to roundels:
http://news.sportslogos.net/2015/06/...-sports-logos/

This year's NBA Finals patch now goes on the upper back of jerseys instead of being from the chest:

Milwaukee will present their new Bucks uniforms without the red on them over at Schlitz Park roughly 90 minutes from now.

So Milwaukee brings forth something old but make it something new with their new uniforms, wordmark, and colo(u)r combotion on Saturday at Schlitz Park. With a new rallying cry. Like the Irish rainbow on the sides from 1976-1993 makes a modified comeback. Again, I wish red, a traditional part in the franchise's colo(u)r scheme, wasn't jettisoned for this makeover:
http://news.sportslogos.net/2015/06/...-new-uniforms/

No word on a third jersey for the Bucks yet. Guessing it would be a cream one. Chris creamer gets it just wrong in saying Milwaukee is on the road jerseys for the first time since 1977. It was the 1975-76 season when the Bucks last had Milwaukee, when it was still in script writing form, spelled out on their road jerseys. Better get your Milwaukee Bucks gear with the hunter green and red combo on it while you can like I will soon...

ESPN's Darren Rovell breaks the news that Nike will officially be the NBA's athletic uniform gear supplier starting in the 2017-18 season after Adidas' present contract expires. Will we continue to see the short sleeved units it harped upon Adidas? Considering all those unorthodox NCAA American football jerseys we've seen in several years from teams with Nike ties (just look at the Oregon Ducks), Nike is still Nike when granted latitude to go crazy. That season would be one to make an NBA entrance--and the swoosh will be on there for the in-play jerseys, not just the swingman replicas:
http://news.sportslogos.net/2015/06/...pplier-of-nba/

Philly's bringing out teasers on their upcoming jerseys that will have Phila on it. Plus it's clear it will incorporate other characteristics from past 76ERS uniforms in their look. Maybe a red center pinstripe line. We may see a red one that says "Sixers" on it. Maybe:

Get ready for the LA Clippers' new look to start premiering on merchandise and new jerseys later this week:

Seems very well these will serve as the new Atlanta Hawks jersey wordmarks as next season approaches:

Whenever you see the seemingly fuller, 3D versions of the NBA logos that we see on those TNT and ESPN/ABC telecasts, I get the impression that TNT does it better in the execution of the NBA team logos. Some of the NBA teams' logos on ESPN/ABC just don't look right. There, they resemble more like stained glass logos. Like for example, the Chicago Bulls logo looks as though it's so grotesque and distorted when made as a 3D figure and made not think of a bull at all. The Miami Heat one looks OK with the flame and smoke coming at the tail end. To be fair, with the NBA Finals broadcast when placing the teams' logos with their area's location, the 3D logos look great. TNT's renditions are better and thus more like a metallic trim surrounding it.

Yeah, the Clippers try to make things interesting, creative, and to represent a brand new era under Steve Ballmer with a "renewed collective optimism" (chuckles). Makes the previous one and uniforms look better by comparison, IMO, towards LA's real pro basketball team. I'm glad the previous one had to go--been there since 1982 with the team still in San Diego--but this seems like a regression. And doesn't it seem like it's channeling the Chicago Cubs with this?
