Default WNBL tipping 2014/15

not sure what the feeling is amoung the small but prestigious group of WNBL tipsters, but in case there is some interest in going round again I thought I'd set something up ... Until we settle on a points system for this year, just post your pick and the margin.

Melbourne by 5
West Coast by 3
Townsville by 6
Melbourne by 8 (vs Dandenong)
Canberra by 7 (vs Sydney)

What the heck, I'll have a crack this season. WWW will be pleased to have someone he can beat
God... aside from the Waves signings - which I am very pleased about - I'm so out of the loop! Canberra is now The University of Canberra? I hope I can still rely on them to be average
OK, as I look at their roster, I clearly can't rely on that at all. Some solid players there. This season is shaping as a challenging one for tipsters! Is Cappie playing? She's not even listed on Dandenong's roster
I'll go with:

Melbourne by 4
Adelaide by 9
Townsville by 1
Melbourne by 5
Canberra by 8

I feel like I could easily go 0/5 here. I won't be unhappy if I do. Carn the Waves!!

Just back from OS - missed this week, will be back in the comp next week (I usually do really badly in the first round anyway, so no great loss).

I didn't see a tipping thread yesterday morning so I didn't know it was happening. Bit disappointing being a Canberra supporter after our good start last night.

If allowed here are my tips for the remainder of the round.

Adelaide to beat WCW by 12
Townsville to beat Bendigo by 3
Canberra to beat Syndey by 8

the way this first round is panning out you'll probably still hold the yellow jersey heading into round two

Thank you Townsville!

(is it true that the Fire got a bigger home crowd than the Crocs?)

Greetings all tippsters and WNBL fans: happy new season (better late than never)

My tips for round 2:
Rangers impressed me last week: to beat Adelaide by 15
Bendigo will have a battle on their hands but they should get over Canberra by 5
Rangers to win again at home two days later over the Flames by 9
Bendigo over a Boomers outfit that's not quite firing on all cylinders yet by 11
Townsville over the Coasters by 9, but this could be a really interesting game and I'm intrigued by the Waves' early season form. I'll tip Townsville but I wouldn't be surprised if West Coast got up.

throwing out a suggestion re this year's tipping comp, what do we think about 5pts for each correct tip and a 1pt bonus for tipping within 5 pts of the margin..?

Given that this year's competition seems a little more even across the eight teams than previous seasons I thought more reward should be placed on just tipping the outright winner of each match.. If the margin bonus range seems a little generous, happy to make it within three pts of the actual margin.

I like it. (Though admittedly this is my first time participating so I don't know how the system previously worked!) Margin is usually more of a tie breaker in tipping anyway. I agree that just picking the winners should be the focus, and that is going to be tough enough this season.
