I’m going to sound like I’m on a Harrower-bashing tirade here, but seriously, under any other circumstances it would be completely inappropriate to have not made a playing decision by now! If her father was not the coach, she would not have this degree of flexibility – I think we can all agree on that.

“Oh, I’ll decide whether I choose to play based on how I feel after training this week”… 5 days out from the season commencing!!

It must be disruptive and frustrating from a team perspective, not knowing who is going to be your starting PG on Saturday night.

I think it is utterly selfish of her to have not made a commitment to her team one way or the other by this stage. Oh, you also have a business venture on the side which might make it tough for you to commit? Then don’t commit – come out and say it! Why leave your team hanging?

There just seems to be a sense of entitlement and nepotism there and it rubs me up the wrong way.

I think when you put in the hard yards for so many years you are entitled to a few perks that may not be available to the average player. Pretty sure most clubs and coaches would give the same leeway to such a long term player.

I would like to know the true feelings from the other players, surely its not completely wrong to think this is not good for a team just days out from the season.
I cant imagine any other player being able to dictate a team like this.

I agree. And I also understand we are talking about Kristi Harrower here - arguably the best PG in the league the past few years.

But the "will she or won't she?" saga has occurred the last 3 seasons. Does she like the attention of it all?

I don't think it's got anything to do with whether she wants it or not. If you don't plan to make a decision until close to the season, it's going to happen whether you like it or not.

Someone posted that this has happened now for 3 seasons. If so then I think the results of the last two years may tell you if it is good for the team or not.

Manged to get to the Bendigo/Townsville game.

-Bendigo

Kelsey Griffin was just huge again, thorn in their side for sure, attacking Francis early on the elbow with the drive, she was too slow to contain here, got two quick ones and was gone within 3mins. She also got a nice elbow to the face from Batkovic, shook her up a bit. Later on Batkovic got one to the face, bit of karma it seems.

Blicavs really showing that's she taken her game up a level or so since crossing over, bright future in an excellent environment.

Kelly Wilson with a solid game, Belinda Snell as well although a few fumbles/TO's, Chelsea Aubry doing it on the defensive end and the little things. Kristi showing everyone she still has it and how it's done.

Townsville - Batkovic and Francis should have had Bendigo's number a bit more, but they were swarmed with double and triple teams and couldn't make their outside shots. Cumming/McCully were a bit quiet, Newley solid game, Harmon quiet as well. Cocks looked to be getting going then got into foul trouble.

These two will be the benchmarks yet again, I still think Bendigo has Townsville's number, especially with what Bendigo still have missing and to come in and the 3rd game in the split back in Bendigo.

Townville need to regroup now and get on with the next game.

Also, the tech fouls if anyone noticed, Batkovic got one for arguing or something, already warned twice beforehand, Kristi for mouthing off a bit, didn't get a warning I saw, bit stiff.

Thanks for the summary of the game Fuhrious. Who started in the 5 spot/ played on Batkovic?

Chelsea Aubry I believe.

They're grooming Blicavs to replace her since I believe this will be her last season.

Same with Garrick for Wilson, Lavey for Harrower and possibly Roberts for Richards when the time comes, they have a large succession plan I believe under all of their recruitment.

Aubry is one of the leagues most underrated, in my opinion.

She just has a knack of hitting long 2's or a trey right when her team needs it. Including in last weekend's match against Townsville - she hadn't scored a whole lot throughout the game, but comes up with the dagger 3 in OT. And she has done this ever since she arrived here.

Interview on Kelsey Griffin. Also heard around that she got her permanent residency, not sure how that relates to getting a citizenship if she desires to. I'd take her to Rio

Would love for her to go to Rio with the Opals!
In her few short years here she has really helped lift out league's standard. She seems well respected around the league and with basketball fans. A great replacement for Penny when she retires, (hopefully no time soon)

Anyone know if the WNBL has a cut off or something for finals, where a player needs to have played x amount of games to be 'eligible' ?

Elyse Penaluna was meant to be 'right to play' and hasn't suited up, no idea if they're just saving her for as long as possible, or if there is a rule that she can't play and they're not worrying/saying anything about it.

Bernie Harrower has had some unfortunate news...

http://wwos.ninemsn.com.au/article.aspx?id=8965011

Have the most respect for him and Chris Lucas for what they have both been able to achieve, as well as being able to maintain and build upon their rosters and seemingly keep people around.

A shame if he is replaced.

Didn't see that coming! If Dandy were smart they would sign him up straight away.

I'm pretty certain he'd just retire tbh.

More so how is this going to effect Kristi? She's basically at some point going to head coach the team, piss off the family and I don't think she'd want to be around.

As I assume most would be aware, seems a large storm is brewing in Bendigo with their board and Bernie Harrower.

Their facebook page has been flooded with extremely angered supporters (rightfully so, imo) But it shouldn't be vented in such a public arena.
