I'm taking the FNBL approach of "if it's not on the NBL (or team) website, it's not locked in", even if you've heard it from the players mouth that they want to, or have re-signed... if there's been other local articles that have been posted, please link me, but there's been nothing posted since the Grand Final and since Perth are one of the better teams about updating their website with any grain of news... ok, so wait... doing my duty and dirtying myself inteh Wildcats 10/11 thread, there was a link to this article confirming that indeed, but since when? Have teams been able to re-sign players willy nilly? I thought that they had to wait until the end of the Finals series? Has there been official word yet?

edit: and I'm not just dragging the chain as I was wanting Damo to come back to Sydney

Gary Boodnikoff has retired. He said he hasn't the required desire anymore and will be pursuing his business interests in Cairns.

Tony Rampton has retired from the Australian NBL. He said he is moving into school teaching and is currently playing one final season in the NZNBL.

I could sense that a little watching him move around the court without much agenda last season. I hope he finds what he is looking for in the business world.

Just heard back from Taipans management, and their official word is that Gary "has not announced his retirement at this stage"

My reason for originally posting that he had retired was because the local Ch 7 news reported that he had and accompanied it with an interview in which he said he didn't have the required desire to compete at the NBL level anymore and was pursuing interests outside of basketball.

I also heard a radio report in which it also said that Aaron Fearne had asked him to stay on to assist in some capacity off the court.

Yup, that's completely cool and you will no doubt be proven right, I'm only justifying my reasoning for not putting him as Retired yet

Press release or it didn't happen.

(The NBL Free Agents' List is due out shortly, either myself or NH will do a bulk update once that is released.)

In fairness Derek several newspaper articles have been posted that stated that this is so, however Perth fans have been happy to wait for official confirmation from the NBL. Alex's post is 9 days old and Nerfie already covered why he hadn't updated.

OOH! ME! ME! I'll do it! Back off from my list, Boss man

And Silencer is right, I have sorted out any malcontents and we're all waiting with much expectation... Here's hoping that I have yet another boring day Thursday so I can refresh the NBL website continuously...

M. Knight was on the points list along with other players who weren't on a team this year, but was not on the free agents list.

Is he signed somewhere? I haven't seen anything on the NBL site.

I think the FA list only includes players who were on an NBL roster in the season prior.

Blanchfield is the Crocs' YAP, and given Wortho/second import will prob cover the 3-4 spots, the Crocs have a bit of flexibility with who they sign. Apparently they are interested in Ben Magden, who would be a pretty good rookie signing.

So only a few teams left with spaces to fill-
Gold Coast- Replacement for Cadee and 2 more players
New Zealand Breakers- 2 players (Sean Marks a possibility for one of the spots)
Cairns Taipans- 1 player (Choosing between Conn and Brebner apparently)

Anyone have any idea who the Breakers and Blaze are going for?

Lindsay Tait has been invited to do pre-season with the Breakers. If they arent satisfied with him they have said theyll sign a combo guard import.

Blaze want an athletic, ballhandling swingman from their other import, and need a big local - Daniel Kickert is one possibility, not sure who else of quality is out there. The two Peros were mentioned here on Ozhoops as options they were considering.
