Default 2011 Naismith Hall Of Fame Class

Announced today! Congratulations to Chris Mullin, Dennis Rodman, Tara VanDerveer, Teresa Edwards, Arvydas Sabonis, Artis Gilmore, Reese "Goose" Tatum, Herb Magee, Tom "Satch" Sanders, and Tex Winter for induction this year. About freakin' time the A-Train got his due.

An utter shame Tex Winters won't be around in Springfield to bask in the glow of his much-deserved Naismith Hall of Fame induction that should've been years earlier. The triangle is an important part of the development in basketball.

The new Naismith Class of 2012 was announced today on NCAA Championship day. Reggie Miller(who many felt should have went on the first ballot), Don Nelson, Ralph Sampson, Jamaal Wilkes, Katrina McClain, Hank Nichols, Mel Daniels, Chet Walker, Don Barksdale, Lydia Alexeeva, Phil Knight, and (a real nice addition) the All-American Redheads. Surprising that Louisville coach Rick Pitino was not inducted this year.

http://espn.go.com/nba/story/_/id/77...call-hall-fame

Don't worry. I'll link the induction speeches from last year's class.

The Hall of Fame needs Silk... and a 20ft lay-up.

Congratulations to Jamaal 'Silk' Wilkes on his induction to Naismith, it's long time coming but thoroughly deserved. Now all he needs is his #52 jersey retired by the Lakers, and I believe that is coming next season.

One of the finest players I saw growing up, overshadowed by Kareem and Magic in a very strong Lakers roster, but he was a valuable contributor for 8 seasons with one of the smoothest shooting actions I've seen.

Congratulations to the other inductees as well.

Looks as though Louisville's Rick Pitino has won induction into the Naismith Hall of Fame this year. Wouldn't it be great if he wins the NCAA title the Monday night he's officially announced?
http://espn.go.com/mens-college-bask...me-source-says

This report also says Gary Payton, Jerry Tarkanian, and legendary Houston Cougars Guy V. Lewis are also in.

Dawn Staley, former Virginia Cavs All-American, Richmond/Philadelphia Rage, Charlotte Sting, and Houston Comets star, will also get enshrined too.

Good omen that Melo's channelling his inner Bernard King lately--King's getting in too! http://espn.go.com/new-york/nba/stor...me-source-says

It just seems today, to famously quote Ice Cube, "is a good day" for Rick Pitino that could get even better for him hours later as I write this. Not only he officially got the call of enshrinement with his wife JoAnne listening in and will earn at least an additional US $2.7 million extension. His son Richard got the Minnesota coaching vacancy after being at Florida International for only one season.

Shame about Spencer Haywood

David Stern, Zo, Mitch Richmond, Sarunas Marciulionis, Nolan Richardson, Bob "Slick" Leonard, former Maryland coach Gary Williams, Nat "Sweetwater" Clifton, the pioneering 1972-74 Immaculata College women's basketball teams, and Guy Rogers were all enshrined as this year's Naismith's 2014 Class
http://hangtime.blogs.nba.com/2014/0...of-fame-class/

Still no Spencer Haywood? Maybe Dave Zirin could offer reasons and theories why
http://www.slamonline.com/online/the...-hall-of-fame/

Eddie Sutton also gets omitted despite being a finalist. Maybe next year

Longtime Boomers/Melbourne Tigers head coach Lindsay Gaze, Boston Celtics legend (player/coach/TV colour analyst) Tommy Heihnson, Kentucky Colonels and Kentucky Wildcats Louie Dampier (the only player to play in all the ABA's nine seasons), Harlem Rens' John Isaacs, and former NCAA coach and Nike Basketball international director George Raveling are among the first to be inducted into Naismith this year. Congrats to all, especially for Gaze and Dampier! Hopefully in a few years Gaze's son will join him.

Dikeme Mutumbo, Kevin Johnson, Tim Hardaway, 38-year NBA ref Dick Bavetta, Bill Fitch (Cleveland, Boston, Houston, New Jersey, LA Clippers coach), John Calipari, Spencer Haywood, Bo Ryan, longtime Texas HS coaches Robert Hughes and Leta Andrews, Jo Jo White, and last and certainly least My Stupid Evil Pony () are among those waiting for enshrinement to be announced on NCAA National Championship night

Dikembe Motumbo, John Calipari, Spencer Haywood (FINALLY!), Jo Jo White, Dick Bavetta, and certainly least My Stupid Evil Pony () are all inducted as Naismith's 2015 Hall of Fame Class. Shame that KJ, Tim Hardaway, and Bo Ryan didn't make it this year. Would be better for Cal if UK won Saturday night to further add the joy.

Shaq, Allen Iverson, Yao, Swoopes, Izzo, KJ, Tim Hardaway, Chris Webber, Vlade Divac, Nick Galis, Toni Kukoc, Dino Radja, Junior Bridgeman, Bobby Jones, referees Hugh Evans and Darell Garretson, Lefty Driesell, Gene Keady, Rollie Massimino, Bo Ryan, Eddie Sutton, and Mark Price all headline the 2016 Naismith Hall of Fame nominee list.

ABA committee has George McGinnis, Mack Calvin, Zelmo Beatty, Ron Boone, and Freddie Lewis with interesting changes to the voting process overall not limited to the ABA:
http://www.nba.com/2015/news/feature...fame-nominees/

Forgive me but I want to push forth a couple of coaches who are deserving to be on the list: Steve Konchalski from St. Francis Xavier and Ken Shields from those great Victoria championship teams. Konchalski has at least 800 wins and Shields is another one of those great Canadian basketball coaches. But both did their thing up in Canada and might as well exist in a void to many Americans. Their accomplishments do need to be recognized.

Allen Iverson, Kevin Johnson, Shaquille O'Neal, Charles "Lefty" Driesell, Robert Hughes, Tom Izzo, John McLendon, Bo Ryan, Eddie Sutton, referee Darell Garrettson. From the Women's Screening Committee: coaches Leta Andrews, Muffet McGraw, player Sheryl Swoopes and Wayland Baptist University are among the 2016 Naismith Hall finalists when it announced in Toronto during NBA All Star Weekend that will also include Yao Ming from the International category. The Naismith Class of 2016 will get announced in Houston on April 4 prior to the NCAA National Championship Game:

Shaq, The Answer, Yao (he'll surely get a big hand with this national championship game being in Houston tonight), Izzo, and Swoopes are all in this Naismith 2016 class along with Bulls owner Jerry Reinsdorf (on the 20th anniversary of the 72-10 Bulls championship team), the late ABA legend Zelmo Beaty (St. Louis Hawks, LA/Utah Stars), referee Darrell Garretson, John McLendon (first African-American to coach a pro team with the Cleveland Pipers and a NCAA D1 team), and Cumberland Posey.

Bo Ryan, KJ, Lefty, Muffett, George McGinnis, Vlade Divac, Rollie, CWebb, Mack Calvin, Tim Hardaway, Ron Boone, Keady, Hugh Evans, and Eddie Sutton all have to wait at least another year:

Your 2017 finalists are Tracy McGrady, Chris Webber (should've got a ring back in 2002), Tim Hardaway, Rebecca Lobo, Villanova 1985 coaching champ Rollie Massimino, Milwaukee Bucks great Sidney Moncrief, Baylor coach and 1984 gold medalist Kim Mulkey, Kansas and Tulsa coach Bill Self, ex-NBA ref Hugh Evans, former Wisconsin coach Bo Ryan, Notre Dame women's coach Muffet McGraw, Wayland Baptist AAU women's team, Rudy Tomjanovich, and Ft. Worth's Dunbar HS coach Robert Hughes. Inductees will get announced by the Honors Commitee after their results during Final Four weekend in Glendale, Arizona:

Sources are saying that Kansas coach Bill Self (and formerly was at Oral Roberts, Tulsa, and Illinois) is definitely among this year's Naismith inductees that will be announced this afternoon. According to the comments section, Bo Ryan will be denied again this year. One Facebook commentator at this article says that two NAIA coaches both of hold 1000+ wins and national titles--Harry Statham of McKendree of Illinois and Danny Miles of Oregon Tech--the two winningest coaches in NAIA basketball history...and tells the Naismith Committe to "ask Rollie Massamino about Danny Miles - Rollie is 0-2 against him":

Now we can call it official: T-Mac, Rebecca Lobo, Bill Self, Muffet McGraw, Robert Hughes, Jerry Krause, who just died on March 21, George McGinnis, former NCAA vice president Tom Jernstedt, NJ-born Greek basketball star Nikos Galis and two members of the Harlem Globetrotters--Zack Clayton and Mannie Jackson are all enshrined this year:
http://www.espn.com/espn/story/_/id/...all-fame-class

But what about Norfolk St.'s own Bobby Dandridge, also from the Milwaukee Bucks and Washington Bullets, in the future?

Why isn't former Detroit Pistons GM Jack McCloskey enshrined in the Naismith Hall of Fame? He's got the credentials by how he built that back-to-back championship team together. And the fact, he just announced his Alzheimer's condition marks a greater urgency for him to get there next year. This places lose some cred with him not in:
