As we get closer to Beijing, there has obviously been a bit of talk about our squad. A few people have said we don't need naturalised players or "But dey isnt real ozziess!!1! LOLZ" and others have said "they're at our disposal, lets use them!"
We have also seen some great quality imports in the league this season, with guys like Corey 'say it again?' Williams, Darnell Hinson, Julius Hodge and Sean Lampley ( :x ) just to name a few making strong impacts on their team.
But let's not forget some of our exports. Basketball in Australia is producing a strong product at the moment, we have guys starring in top teams through Euroleague, we have plenty of great young up and coming talent in the NCAA, and there's some guy, who got picked #1 in the NBA a few years ago, playing a great season through in what would be a difficult team situation to be in.
All of this has me wondering, if these two were were to be split into squads, lets say, The Imports (NBL Imports, inc naturalised players, hello Shaun Redhage!) vs The Exports (Aussies playing off shore), what would we expect?
Do you think our Exports would dominate? Or would we be given a run for our money?
Lets limit this to squads of 10, and the refs are consistent  and it is a one off game played in a neutral setting.
Who is in your squads? Who are your coaches? Who are the top 5 players in this game?
How do you think the game would play out?

Logically, if the imports were better than the exports, they wouldn't be imports, they'd be playing where the exports are.

No. But the exports left the country for bigger opportunities (which can include stronger competition, but it doesn't have to, it can also be that these places simply have more money because basketball is in a better place financially than it is in Australia). If they left here for more opportunities, then surely many of the imports would have gone there for the same reason.
It's not always true, a lot of people stay or come here because they like the lifestyle, think they have a good opportunity to learn under certain coaches or they want to experience playing in a professional league, before taking on other challenges. But if they get an opportunity to go overseas, generally, they take it.

Getting paid aside, what about the NBA D League? Would we say that is better/worse than NBL?

It's just a different opportunity. It depends what you want. If you want to play NBA, D League gives you exposure to an entirely different audience in comparison to the NBL - it's a big thing when a scout comes out here.

Exports.
Focusing on just the one player (which we shouldn't), I seriously can't see anyone in the NBL being able to matchup well on Bogut- which is nothing for the league to be ashamed of, that's why he is an NBA starter. Too quick for the guys big enough to matchup on him, too big for the guys quick enough to matchup on him.

Jerome Beasley was a decent player in the D-League.

He's starting to become a relatively tough matchup for teams in the NBA, so no shame on NBL imports finding it tough :D

On one of those other exports- AJ Ogilvy just had a lazy 27 points on 12/13 fg and 3/4 ft, with 5 boards and a couple of blocks in just 26 minutes as he lead Vandy to a first round win in the SEC tournament. That kid goes okay too and could prove a tough matchup for an NBL import, particuarly if he is coming off the bench behind Bogut.

Isiah Victor was All NBDL First Team (Kirk Penney was Honourable Mention the same year).

I'd say worse. Judging by the stats mediocre guys (relatively speaking) put up, I'm doubtful anyone plays defense in the D League.

FIBA only allows one naturalised player per each NT so we can only pick one out of CJ, Redhage or Mee, not all 3 of them, unfortunately.

CJ is not naturalised! How many times does this have to repeated?

Pretty sure he was born in Australia. I know for sure that he went to school at Chirchlands High and played juniors at Perry Lakes

I don't think he was born here, but he was certainly here at a young enough age to be considered "Australian" for FIBA purposes.

Good enough......I think Redhage is the only naturalised player that would be considered, wouldn't you?
Oh....and exports for mine. Also because Bogut would kick arse!
